In my experience, the decisive factor is what is being printed. With colour photos in A4 format, the consumption is higher than with mixed texts / graphics / small photos on A4 size. I have had the printer since April 2018, need it regularly for colour printing (seminar documents) and the printer level is still relatively high. Unlike ink cartridges, laser cartridges cannot dry out because they are made of powder.

I bought the HP M533 printer in January 2018. The print quality (photos and documents) is very good for me. But I don't print much. When I bought it, I made sure that the toner cartridges were not preinstalled in small sizes, but in "normal" sizes (approx. 4000 pages for each cartridge). Now I still have about 3600 pages left for each toner (according to the printer menu). I have not noticed any drying out until today.
