Icy Box IB-DK2241AC - USB Type-A 3.0 Multi Dock
USB-B, 11 Ports
I already have one of these. The part is great. Now my question, can I buy a second one and connect it to the second ssd-usb port to connect 2 more displays?
Hi Sandrogamito.
I am not sure that this is possible. USB 3 only has a limited bandwidth. And the ports are often combined internally on the board on the same hub for cost reasons and then Bluetooth, NFC, WLAN and whatnot are attached to it. I know that this dock can support resolutions up to QHD, but only on one port. Then only FullHD is possible on the second port. Or 2 FullHD at the same time. And you can't connect them in series. If you had 2 completely separate USB3 ports, that might work. But that never happens in notebooks. Please inform yourself at Icy and also at DisplayLink. The chipset that is built into all these docks comes from them.
What might work is a USB adapter that contains 2 graphics cards. These are available from Startech, for example, and are quite expensive. Please read here very carefully what they can do, otherwise you may have the wrong one. The differences lie in the details.
