Question about i-tec C31tripledockpdch
I bought this docking a few days ago, everything works fine with HP EliteBook 840 G7. I would like to use a 4K screen with 3840x2160 resolution and another screen with 1920x1080 resolution connected via Displayport but unfortunately this does not work. The 4K screen displays at best 2080x1080. If I only connect the 4K screen it works in 3840x1260 resolution but as soon as I connect the other screen, the resolution of my 4K screen is changed. What should I do? Should I buy another i-tec dock?

I read in the user manual that the USB-C output of the computer must be DisplayPort 1.4 DSC compatible.
Indeed, it is difficult to know if the USB-C output is compatible or not even by searching on the internet.
I didn't find any details on the HP website.
I guess it is not compatible otherwise it would work.
I found a solution, instead of connecting the 2 screens by Displayport on the docking, I connect one screen by DisplayPort on the docking and the other screen directly by HDMI on the PC.
But the purpose of having bought the docking is to be able to use 2 different PCs (professional and private).
If I have to unplug the cables from one PC to another, the docking is not really usefull (or almost).
I wonder if I choose an HP docking (for example G2 or G5) if the problem would be solved?
Could I connect the 2 screens directly to the dock. 1x in 4k and 1x normal 1920x1080?
I will try to contact HP tomorrow, a techincian might be able to answer me.
PS. I used to have the docking HP slim. it was perfect but you cannot connect all the devices, it has to be Notebook HP compatible. There must be a USB-C/Thunderbolt doking that can replace my old HP slim docking.

The resoltions depend on the DP (DisplayPort) over USB-C (alt. mode) your laptop uses. But it's usually pretty hard to find out what version your laptop uses, sometimes it's on the specification on the manufacturer website.
