I had previously heard this monitors panel is prone to horizontal lines occurring after a few months...is this still the case? Has anyone experienced something similar?

yes, I have this at the bottom of my monitor.
I had the monitor in use for pretty much 1year. The lines are one thing, but additional I have a black flicker about once every few seconds, which is NOT ignorable.
