Question about Gigabyte M28U

I have a brand new Mac Book Pro M2 and I can't get a picture on the M28U monitor via the USB C ports. But it works via the HDMI cable. With USB C I tried it with 2 different cables. I also tried with different settings (Hertz and resolution) - but should have no effect as with HDMI it is OK. What have I overlooked?
