I have connected my laptop (Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro - Black Edition) to the monitor via HDMI cable. Unfortunately, however, I cannot select a higher resolution than 1920x1080. I have read that it is possible if you connect a USB-C to HDMI cable. Is there another possibility or is this the only way to utilise the resolution of the screen?

Is the monitor defined as a 2nd display - i.e. not mirrored? I assume that if the monitor is mirrored, i.e. it displays the same as on the laptop, then the monitor takes over the resolution of the laptop. Be sure to set it as a separate monitor (screen settings).
