Question about Sony WH-1000XM5
I have questions about the Sony WH-1000XM5: Is there an equaliser, e.g. in the app ? The app for settings is apparently only available for smartphones. If you now use the headphones on a laptop, are the set values (e.g. equaliser) also set on the laptop and can they be changed via the smartphone app? Does the noise cancellation also work without having to listen to music?

There is an equaliser in the app. I would say that the values remain saved, but I cannot say this with 100% certainty.
Noise cancellation also works without music, although you then hear a little more of the surroundings. How strong the noise cancellation is can be set via the app, but only when connected to the smartphone. Otherwise, the noise cancellation can only be switched on or off using the button.
The EQ values are saved in the memory, so the EQ works even when you are connected to the PC.
I would say that the settings are saved by the equaliser. I have often switched between PC and iPhone and have never noticed a different sound on the iPhone, where I made the settings, than on the PC :)
The app has an EQ. There is no app for the PC, or I don't have one. Noise cancellation also works without music. The headphones have a button where you can switch "Noise cancellation" on and off.

Yes, there is an equaliser in the Headphone Connect app. You can use noise cancellation even if you are not playing any music.
This function can be very useful if you want to block out background noise in noisy places such as trains or aeroplanes.
