Question about Canon EF 1.4x III

I own a 70-200 f2.8L IS USM (first generation) and an EOS R, so I use an EF adapter, will the converter still work? And what about the AF? The 2x would be great but for plane spotting 300mm is usually enough. Thanks for the answers

I have just done a test with the following four components:
- Canon EOS R Body
- Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R
- Canon Extender EF 1.4x III
- Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS II USM
The auto focus worked.
The smallest aperture was at F4.0 due to the converter.

I also have this converter on the D5 with the tele 100-400 (my fast lenses do not work with the converters) 1.4 x f5.6 =<8 autofocus works, with the 2.0 x => 8 the autofocus does not work ==> with the EF adapter on the R the autofocus does not work with either the 1.4 or the 2.0 with these combinations I have to focus manually. But I don't know if this works with f2.8 and these combinations. It's best to borrow the converter first and try it.
