I ran some records in the 80s with then current wet systems, that's why you can hear strong hissing and crackling today. Does the flap washer also clean such records or remove the residue? LG RW

Helpful answer

It's hard to say, because I only used such liquid systems very briefly in the 70s and 80s and can't remember which discs it was ever used on.

But, I have used the VC 2 Alu to bring flea market records and those that went through hard times on cheap turntables in a lively youth at the end of the 60s/beginning of the 70s from 'unplayable' to 'near mint', for which the Knosti no longer had any effect and which I had already given up on. I therefore assume that the Pro-ject can also cope with these residues, as they do not contain defects per se, but only dirt.

The device is super and I would never give it away. If you love your discs and see them as more than just a slightly anachronistic sound carrier system (and also have a high-quality phono line), you can't get around a device like this. Nothing, but nothing, comes close to this machine in terms of effectiveness. Be sure to use the recommended liquid (in my case best diluted 15:1 with Aqua Dest).

If a pane is not damaged, no matter how dirty it is, it will be fine after a thorough cleaning. In the case of heavy soiling, let the cleaning fluid soak in for 1 minute before vacuuming and apply and distribute it for several revolutions with the enclosed goat hair brush using light pressure. In both directions of rotation.

I have never played LPs wet, so I have no experience. But I can agree with Anonymous' answer without reservation.

I know the problem, I have a lot of classical records that have been played wet. Cleaning once does not normally help 100%. The cleaning fluid must have a temperature of at least 40°C, then let it soak in for about 1 minute and then vacuum it off green. You will certainly hear the difference. I haven't managed to get rid of it completely, i.e. until the last crackling sound, but it gets a little better with each subsequent cleaning. The device is rather loud, but I wouldn't give it away again :-)
