Question about RØDE Ai-1

Avatar

I received the interface today and of course tried it out immediately. I had a Scarlett solo before and bought this one because of the higher headphone amplification. After I connected my Krk rokit 7 and played some music, I noticed that it had a very unpleasant noise, even more so at higher volumes. I then installed an update and it got better, but with bassy songs at higher volumes it doesn't sound clean, rather noisy, compared to the old interface. I am a beginner and don't know what the problem could be. Many thanks in advance. LG

Hoi L.bieli,

I assume that you have connected the KRK ROKIT 7 to the balanced line outputs. According to Focusrite, the maximum output level of the Scarlett Solo is +15.5dBu, but according to Røde that of the AI-1 is only -6dBu. That's 21.5dB less. I assume that the noise has to do with the higher gain at the ROKIT input. You lose a lot of signal-to-noise ratio there.

Greetings,
Kurt
