I would like to have the unit controlled via a timer. Does it work after a power interruption or does it have to be switched on again?

Tobieniggli is right. There are so many other products for operating a radio with a timer. How about a clock radio with DAB+?

The radio has a built-in rechargeable battery. If the external power is withdrawn, the radio continues to run on "battery". Probably not suitable for your application. But the device is top!
