I'm not sure why you want that? Yes, it should work, the shutter release button on the focus wheel. But that doesn't make sense for photography. It doesn't magically make the camera AFS-C better.
For filming, however, it's a different story. Camera AFS-C is often not an option, so manual focus wheel + object tracking with the gimbal, for smooth camera movements and object always in the picture.

But all this only works if you have the right camera and lenses.
