Yes, works without problems

The docking station is compatible with any device with a USB 3.0 port. I don't know if it comes with a power adapter that fits the HP Pro Book. There is a suitable one for my HP EliteBook. If none fits, however, you can use the original charging cable without any problems. That's what I do with my Surface Pro, for example.

I used to have an HP EliteBook 8440p and now an HP EliteBook 840 g3. The old one had the "old" big mains adapter plug and the new one had the small one. Both are included with the docking station and work perfectly. There are a total of four different mains adapter plugs for HP notebooks. One of them will certainly fit the HP Pro Book 4540s.
