In the dark, however, the contrast between key and character colour is NOT sufficient for ME to be able to write without problems. Then I have to set the screen as perpendicular as possible to the keyboard level and increase the screen brightness (i.e. use the screen as a "torch").

no, it isn't, but it's not a problem because the key background and character colour are high-contrast.
