Is the player also suitable for audio books? In other words, does the player remember the exact position where it was switched off when it is switched off, and will it continue playing there the next time it is switched on?

YES, the FiiO remembers the position when it is switched off and continues playing from there the next time it is switched on. (Source: http://www.fiio.net/uploads...) . The function is called Resume after Poweroff.
