Is there also a possibility to connect the docking station with USB-C? I ask because the new HP models have switched to USB-C and now we don't want to replace all the docking stations straight away.

Very unlikely, the interface is completely different.
We are currently upgrading to HP G2 (DisplayPort, VGA, 230W, Thunderbolt, USB Type C, USB A).
But you can also connect the older notebooks to the USB-C dock if the required resolution is not too high; we have problems with the 840G5 at 5210 x 1440.
