Helpful answer

For weddings rather not... For landscapes ok. It's just an all-rounder that is sufficient for most needs. But don't expect top sharpness.

My previous comment only concerned the use of this lens for weddings. For landscapes, personally, although I appreciate the versatility of zoom, I much prefer fixed focal lengths for photos of landscapes, towns or buildings. My favourite lenses are the Zeiss 21mm F2.8, the 55mm F1.4 and the 90mm F2.8 macro. For architectural photos I use Canon TSE lenses with an adapter, especially the 24mm.

Hello,
To answer your question, the focal length is perfect, but the lens isn't very sharp. For photos that are essentially portraits, it's not that annoying. Personally, I've done three weddings, one of them with the 24-70 F2.8 lens. It's very sharp, but very heavy and very expensive. I sold it because of the weight and because, after all, at a wedding people move around a lot and are rarely all at the same distance, so most of the time I used F4 rather than F2.8. I had an A7R2 at the time of these weddings and it's very easy to turn up the sensitivity, so it's not a worry, especially as there are programmes to deal with noise afterwards (Topaz Denoise is my favourite). You can also underexpose and make up for it afterwards in Lightroom: the Sony A7r supports this very well (but it's a lot of work to correct everything).
So to sum up, from now on I'll be using the 24-105 F4 and I've sold the 24-70 F2.8.

This is my standard focal length. It's not very fast, but it's lighter. I also have a super wide-angle zoom and a telephoto zoom (very heavy...) that I use less. I also have a 2.8/90 macro that I like very much. On my A6500 I also always use a zoom with a corresponding 24-105 focal length (16-70), ideal!

I bought these due to its flexibility as I hate to keep changing lenses. These are great for portraits and any framing where there is someone on it, including landscapes. The only disadvantage I found is that is does not come any lower than f4, which means, these lenses are hungry for light. Sure, you can always increase ISO and I have an Alpha 7R which goes a long way in terms of ISO still with low noise. Constant f is also a cool feature. I have these lenses for years and I totally recommend them, especially if you plan to use it for pictures with people on it.

Hi M1996W,

this powerful 24 - 105 mm G Lens with an F4 aperture throughout the zoom range offers consistently high image quality. In addition to outstanding optical performance, it features a compact, lightweight design for premium portability and mobility, as befits the E-mount system. The focal length (mm) is 24-105. It also features image stabilisation (SteadyShot) Optical SteadyShot.

Addendum: I need my lens extremely little. I usually have the 85mm on it. I might be willing to sell mine. Please contact me if you are interested. LG Strizzia

Hello - I think so. Sony top lens. However, quite heavy with Sony Apha III and possibly + flash... Leaves nothing to be desired in the focal length range 24-105mm.
