Is this pen compatible with the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5? And what is the difference between Precision pen 2 and precision pen 2 (2023)? Thanks for the help

Short answer: No.

This version is for Lenovo tablets. Tablet versions don't have USB-C charging, and they charge through magnetic contact with the tablet. Both versions look the same but cannot be used interchangeably.

The laptop version has universal USB-C charging. You need the laptop version.

Retailers don't always mark them properly. Please read the product description, and make sure to buy the right model for your laptop.

1. For laptops: GX81J19854 (or others with '81' after the first two letters)
2. For tablets: ZG38C03372, ZG38C04471 (or others with '38' after the first two letters)

Mine always loses the connection and after a longer failure it works again until the pen is put aside.

My daughter has been using it successfully for some time with Lenovo IdeaPad 5i (15.60", Intel Core i7-1165G7, 16 GB, 512 GB, CH)

Good day
As far as I know, the pens for tablets and notebooks are not always compatible, so I would find out more about this beforehand. The precision pen 2 (2023) is probably the new/current version. I recommend contacting Lenovo directly if you are unsure.
