Just to make sure, as I couldn't find any information on this. Am I right in thinking that you can't cover the side buttons on this mouse with covers like you can on the G Pro? I don't need side buttons and they just get in my way unnecessarily.

Yes, that is correct, the side buttons cannot be removed, as is possible with the G Pro.
