Question about HP Thunderbolt G4 Dock for Notebook

My laptop has a USBC port (Type C USB 3.1 Gen1 + PD 3.0 + DisplayPort 1.2). I have always been able to connect a monitor via USBC. Is it possible to use the docking station with my laptop? (I don't have a Thunderbolt port)

I have an HP ProBook 650 G8 (https://support.hp.com/de-de...).
The TB Dock is connected to the USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C port (Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4). The dock works perfectly there.
An external DP screen is connected to the docking station. I also use the network interface.
