The Garmin Forerunner 165 is water-resistant to a depth of 50 metres, which is equivalent to 5 ATM. This water resistance makes it suitable for open water swimming.

However, the Garmin Forerunner 165 is not certified for military testing. Its resistance to water and environmental conditions is guaranteed by the manufacturer's specifications, but does not include MIL-STD-810G or similar certification.
