The input USB-C cable (Thunderbolt - connection to the laptop) is too short (50 cm). Will a USB-C extension cable work? If so, what should I look out for when buying one?

If the cable is detachable, you would have to make sure that it is a cable that is designed for 120 watts charging. This is the charging power specified by the manufacturer.
