The keyboard is great, but it's too far away from my PC. How do you solve something like that? Especially in view of the fact that the keyboard has 2 USB cables that both have to be plugged in.

It is not necessary to have both USB's plugged in. One is the keyboard itself, while the other is for the additional USB port on the back of the keyboard. So one connector is actually just a USB extension to plug in a mouse or other devices. This helps to avoid cable clutter.
To solve the "too far away" problem there are only 2 options; either the PC needs to be closer or you need to use a USB extension. Depending on your setup, the extension is probably easier and if it's a decent cable, there shouldn't be any noticeable problems.
