The product needs batteries, i.e. it is powered by the batteries and not by the "electricity" from the car?

The control unit (picture) is powered by two supplied AA batteries (no cable!) and needs only little current. The other parts (especially the antenna) are supplied with power via the 12V connection ("cigarette lighter") of the car. Actually quite clever, so the cables can also be hidden reasonably well.
