This sound system has 3x 3.5 jack plugs (6 channel) and 2x Chinch connections (stereo). Now I am wondering how I can connect it to an older beamer or TV without losing the 5.1 surround. Can anyone recommend an adapter?

Basically, you can just connect the green jack cable to the beamer. If ONLY this cable is connected, the surround is simulated. I did this once with an old TV (headphone jack) and it works amazingly well.
