To print envelopes, do I have to empty the paper tray and insert the envelope there or is there an additional paper feeder?

You have to remove the paper. The only good thing about the printer is the ink system. As a printer it is slow. It grows grey hairs when copying. It is another junk printer in my collection. But I can't recommend any other printer either. It's a tiresome subject... I would gladly pay 800 for a printer that would then work flawlessly for 12 years. But this junk printer mentality....

Hahaha, welcome to the club, Got an HP 8620, on newly installed Windows 10 with i9. Worked until 1 week ago, but now suddenly no printer is available, setup always appears. Uninstalled everything and cleaned drivers but setup no longer recognises anything. Manuel had to download an APP from the store, so I can still use the basic functions. HP doesn't give a s... about it. Now it's also electrical junk. I used to have the same game with a LaserJet III, There were no more rest toner bins and was not repaired because it was supposedly too old.... and I'll buy another HP...
now definitely never again. About the same with Canon Pixma, remaining container full, printer dead, repair more expensive than a new one.

It will probably be best to buy a very cheap one and then dispose of it when changing cartridges and buy a new very cheap one. Everyone talks about sustainability but no one does it! But it's no wonder as long as the companies have this rip-off mentality.

Yes, I would also rather pay a little more, use it for a while and buy cheap ink.
