To save money as I am still a student, I had the idea to sell my 18-55mm kit and then buy the 18-270. My question is whether it is worth buying the 18-270mm? Image quality etc.
The Tamaron is a very good all-rounder. However, if you want to shoot macro, you won't be very happy with the Tamaron and I would recommend keeping the kit lens. However, if you shoot more portraits or landscapes, the Tamaron is actually fine.
Since the Tamaron is not a Canon lens, I think it's not perfectly compatible with the camera and it's a good idea to switch to manual mode to get the best pictures. However, the image quality is not bad even in automatic mode, provided the Tamaron gets enough light.
For this price, however, you are certainly getting the best that is currently available on the market and some more expensive products cannot produce better images. I can only recommend the Tamaron.
Yours sincerely

As G. Suter writes, for this price it is probably one of the best lenses on the market. I have been using it for some time and am very satisfied. I would buy it again at any time. The lens is very good for landscape, portrait and night photography and takes really great pictures. It is clear that you have to make compromises, but in return you have a lens for a wide range of applications.
Best regards

I bought the lens as an all-rounder for holidays and have only had positive experiences.
I have not found a better price-performance ratio.
It's certainly OK as an all-rounder lens. I use it as a plane spotter and it is useless there. Fast-moving objects (planes taking off/landing, car races) can hardly be photographed because the focusing very often does not work. Mine has already been checked twice (by Leica Switzerland) and the lens is OK. It is just a cheap product that is intended for the 08/15 sector (but the advertising promised something completely different).
