what about if you want to buy more flashes later? do you still have to replace the flash shoe?

I don't understand the question. What does the hot shoe have to do with it? You can't replace the hot shoe anyway. A radio trigger is included in this kit. This can be used to trigger these and other Elinchrom flash units.
