No, it's certainly not catastrophic. I used to have a Canon Pixma and yes, Canon was always ahead in terms of photos, but my Canon had a few years behind it and the Epson, with its newer technology, is on par with the Canon in terms of photos I would say. In terms of text printing, I think it's better and, above all, faster.
