What is the difference between red and brown switches?

Red: The CHERRY MX Red switches are particularly popular in the gaming scene because they have a linear switch characteristic and can be triggered with relatively little force and quite quickly: Only 45 centiNewtons (alternatively grams) are required and the button is triggered after two millimetres. This makes the MX Red suitable for gamers who play fast-paced games such as first-person shooters.

Brown: The brown CHERRY MX switches have a tactile and thus noticeable feedback, but without the classic "click". 55 centinewtons and a switching travel of two millimetres are required to trigger the keystroke. Office users in particular prefer the brown switches because of their quiet operation and noticeable resistance. The switches also represent a good middle ground
