What is the difference with the model with "Surface" not in the title? I see they both support the surface and other laptops, etc..

Without guarantee, but I believe the MS Travel 1E4-00002 - in contrast to the Surface Travel SWV-00002 model is one is equipped with one USB-A 3.2 Gen.2 and one USB-C 3.2 Gen. 2 port. The models SWV-00002 has "only" one USB-A 3.1 and one USB-C 3.1 port.

Unfortunately, I have no idea. I bought the "Surface" version, and I am very satisfied. Small compact for travel and I am not limited to any application I require. I paid equivalent to $85.00.
