What is the maximum and minimum possible table top thickness?

What is the maximum possible tabletop thickness for the C-clamp? According to Dell's online instructions, it says "up to 53 mm". Can anyone confirm this? Would something more still fit?

I ask because my table is totally 55 mm thick due to a metal frame under the tabletop. So theoretically I am only missing 2 mm...

My tabletop from OfficeX (Micasa OFFICE X (180 cm)) chipboard with 18 mm thickness easily holds my Dell U34 21 without bending.
