What kind of hard drive would you recommend 8 tb ssd or hdd

As you need a 2.5" HDD or SSD, you are limited to 4TB. We do not offer larger capacities in this form factor.
In general, HDDs are preferable for long-term storage, SSDs are preferable for faster read and write rates. I would go with an HDD here:
