What's in the box? What additional items do I need to buy before I can make screen recordings from cameras such as the Nikon Z9 for tutorials? Do I work indoors, don't need a battery (recommendation welcome of course), power supply included? Do I need special HDMI cables?
To answer the question a little more concretely than the previous answer does:
In the scope of delivery
* Atomos Ninja V
* Adapter for mains operation
* SSD Caddy
* Quick Start Guide
What you should ideally buy, depending on your needs
* SSD, if you want to record directly via Ninja (and also for firmware updates); Either an Angelbird SSD (fits perfectly in size) or another SSD (e.g. Samsum 860 Pro), which you can place in the supplied caddy to securely attach the SSD to the Ninja.
* HDMI cable. Note: Depending on the cable, you can only record up to 24/30 FPS via the Atomos. The original Atomos HDMI cables are extremely expensive but work perfectly with higher FPS.
* Battery(s). For example NP-F970 (relatively large) or the smaller version. Plus a battery charger as appropriate.
* Monitor Mount. If you want to mount the monitor on the camera (such as the Smallrig Swivel and Tilt Monitor Mount for the hot shoe).
It comes with a power supply unit that is connected to the back via an adapter box like a battery. For the Ninja there is also the AtomX Cast, which would be cool for several cameras. What is not included. SDD hard drive, no HDMI cable. No protection box, no SmallRig cages etc. which are almost all smart accessories... depending on the application...
