Which adapter do I need to connect the monitor to a Macbook with Thunderbolt 2? (via HDMI is best, or DP)

Depends on the MacBook version. If Thunderbolt 4 is available, you can connect the monitor via USB-C (compatible). For "older" models, connect via HDMI.
