With rsync I get a real write speed of about 5.84MB/s (APFS or exFat makes no difference). (APFS or exFat makes no difference). Is there a "trick" or is it really that slow?

Just tested: rsync, 11.7GB, 5.5k files - 21.81MB/s, on MBP M3 Pro, filesystem "MacOS Extended (Journaled)".
Maybe yours is defective? 🤔
