In 1924, August Bremicker and his sons achieved a milestone in the small town of Volmarstein near Wetter an der Ruhr by launching a groundbreaking padlock: the "Iron Rock." At that time, the family began developing and producing locks in the forge located in the basement of their home. They faced strong competition, as there were many similar forges in Volmarstein and the surrounding area. However, August Bremicker and his sons were so successful that the company quickly grew, and in 1929, they purchased the production facility on Hegestrasse in Volmarstein, which is still in operation today. Today, Abus is a globally operating company, managed by the family in its fourth generation, and its products are renowned worldwide for their quality. Safe, reliable, stable: that is what the name Abus stands for.
