Eric Carle, the creator of the tireless little caterpillar, was born in 1929 in Syracuse, New York. He lived in Germany from 1935 to 1952 and then returned to the USA. He currently resides in Florida and North Carolina. Since 1968, he has published children's books that have been translated into 47 languages and have won numerous awards. In 2002, he opened his large museum for international picture book art, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts.
"I am a penguin and I turn my head. Can you do that too?" - "I can do that too," replies the child. And so, the children are invited by a giraffe, monkey, seal, cat, and many other animals that children love, to shrug their shoulders, sway their hips, clap their hands, or stomp their feet. And in the end, every child knows: "I am me and I wiggle my toe. Can you do that too?" - "I can do that too! I can do that too!" replies the parrot.
