There are three slip rungs on one side of the bed that can be removed. At the top of the slipping rung there is a spring which makes it "easy" to remove. However, some pressure is required so that it is not so easy for small children to remove the rungs. But by the parents, the rungs can theoretically be installed in the evening and removed again in the morning so that the child can climb out.
