Wiesbaden, 1959. Hilde Koch, the new manager of Café Engel, bravely fights against a competitor who is attracting more and more guests with dance evenings. Her husband Jean-Jacques is not much of a support to her since he has fulfilled his dream of owning a vineyard. When the café's new pastry chef fervently pursues Hilde, her marriage is put to a severe test. Meanwhile, Hilde's brother Wilhelm finds entirely new horizons opening up, as the booming film industry tempts him with alluring offers.
