Joel lives alone with his father Samuel, who was once a sailor, high up in the north of Sweden. At night, Joel often sneaks out of the house to find the lonely dog he once saw from the window. On the bridge over the frozen river, he forms a secret club and experiences the most adventurous things at night. However, one night he discovers that his father's bed is also empty. Samuel has fallen in love with the waitress Sara. Will he leave Joel too, just like his mother did many years ago?.
