About Rent, Murder, and Burnt Wigs

Autumn, in a German city: The last unsanitized house on Hebelstrasse is being "vacated." Karl Kramer, 55, the caretaker, Elisabeth Buttkies, 72, a retired German teacher, and Jersey, 28, a part-time student, are the only ones left, and they couldn't be more different. The world outside their door doesn't always treat them kindly; inside, they nurse their wounds until the owner's letter arrives: major renovations. Eviction. Definitively. The fight for their seemingly last piece of "self" begins. They barricade themselves, cats are poisoned, and wigs are set on fire. Almost too late, "the Last" come together. In the end, the geraniums bloom again. It's spring. Three are happy. And one is dead.
