For a hundred years, no sunlight has reached the Earth, making plant growth impossible and depleting the oxygen supply. Science is developing the method of transfloration, the transformation of humans into plants. Ethical and moral doubts are sidestepped, as only terminally ill individuals undergo the procedure. However, the temptation of a high reward is great; volunteers bypass the rules and sign up for transformation. Among them is Toshiro, who is desperate about his life and future prospects – and after the procedure, he possesses unforeseen talents that come into play in the search for a serial killer.
