A love letter from Grisham to the world of books and their authors. In a spectacular act, the manuscripts of F. Scott Fitzgerald are stolen. The FBI takes over the investigation, and within a few days, there are initial arrests. However, one of the culprits disappears without a trace, along with the valuable writings. Finally, a hot lead takes them to Florida: to the bookstore of Bruce Cable, who claims innocence. Thus, the investigation team hires a young author to infiltrate the life of the bookseller. But the investigators have underestimated Bruce Cable, who is playing his own game with them.
