A colorful picture book commemorating the twentieth anniversary of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's passing. A little girl observes what is happening on the lot across from her house. Where her favorite tree grows on a wild property, a large house is now being built. The girl is very worried about her tree and wonders what will happen to it when a big gray house is constructed there. However, the new house turns out to be quite different: it has no straight lines, but rather very multifaceted shapes and colors. In the end, she is happy to learn that all the trees and plants were not destroyed but have become "residents" of the new building, just like the human inhabitants who have a home there. With vibrant and playful illustrations, this book describes and explains the main elements of Hundertwasser's architecture and tells the story of his architectural manifesto. At the end of the book, there is information about Hundertwasser and his most famous building – the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna.
