Idyll or abyss, perpetrator or victim – nothing is as it seems. Seventeen-year-old Haley McWaid leads an idyllic suburban life: she is a model student, captain of the lacrosse team, and on the verge of being accepted into a prestigious elite college. But then Haley disappears without a trace overnight, and the McWaid family’s world collapses. A desperate search begins. Ultimately, it is chance that leads TV reporter Wendy Tynes to a clue: a social worker is branded as the perpetrator. However, Wendy herself begins to have doubts, and in the suburban idyll, abysses open up where nothing is as it seems.
