Product details

In today's equestrianism, rein and leg aids play a central role. We see them as an indispensable necessity, even though we more or less clearly perceive that this riding style hinders the horse and harms its health. This book questions the central dogma of modern riding teachings and explains how riding can function solely with seat aids. It brings together a wide range of scientific data and describes a completely new dynamic picture of horse movement. This opens a path for riders to consciously learn the movement symbiosis with the horse and thus find access to direct body communication.

The author presents the horse's movement sequences in as much detail as the neural processes of movements in the human brain. For her, riding only with the seat means differentiated communication with body parts that we normally control only unconsciously. For millennia, riding masters have struggled to articulate this process. None of the historical riding masters provide a complete description, only fragments. With knowledge from modern natural science about the biomechanics of horse movement, it is possible to develop the ability for differentiated communication with the rider's seat through training one's own body awareness. Our conscious mind must focus on what it does best - understanding relationships.

This book is not a riding instruction in the conventional sense, but rather the key and foundation for understanding riding teachings. It explains the neurobiology that conceals crucial processes in our subconscious while riding, so that even the best riding masters can only describe fragments of the movement symbiosis between rider and horse. This book pieces together the fragments into a complete picture.
