From the vastness of space directly to the heart. For his birthday, Bastian wishes for two things: a telescope and for his father to remember his birthday. He can't express this, as he hasn't spoken since his mother's death. Although Bastian doesn't receive the coveted telescope, they do go to the observatory. There, Bastian gazes into the depths of the universe – and discovers a story. That very night, he sketches it in his notebook: it's about a boy named Buzz who launches himself into space with a homemade rocket. After an adventurous journey, the Big Bang hurls him back to the moon, and Buzz realizes that the most beautiful place in the universe has always been right beneath his feet: Earth. And not only has the trip to space changed Buzz, but it has also transformed his creator, Bastian.
