When Walter Moers reviewed the correspondence between Hildegunst von Mythenmetz and the Buchhaimer Eydeeten Hachmed Ben Kibitzer, he came across a letter in which the Zamonian author describes a celebration that strikingly reminded Moers of our Christmas festivities. The Lindworms of Zamonia celebrate it annually and call it "Hamoulimepp." During these three holidays, the Lindworm festival is entirely focused on the two figures "Hamouli" and "Mepp," who bear a remarkable resemblance to our Santa Claus and Knecht Ruprecht. Additionally, the tradition includes Hamoulimepp worms, Hamoulimepp worm dwarfs, unhealthy food, a book-clearing event, a fireless fireworks display, and much more. According to Moers, no friend of Christmas celebrations, this letter from Mythenmetz provides profound insight into the customs of a beloved Zamonia.
