These pens are great from a very young age (certainly usable from the age of one) and exciting up to about 3 years old I would say.
They also don't break if they fall down.
It depends on the definition of problematic. If the child's mouth is all coloured, that would be problematic for me.
But they are definitely not poisonous, so you still have to keep the child.

Our child regularly puts these pens in his mouth - and is still alive :-)
